Frequently Asked Questions

DO I HAVE TO BE A FULL-TIME STUDENT TO LIVE IN CAMPUS HOUSING?

No. You simply have to be enrolled during the time you reside on campus.

IS MY DEPOSIT APPLIED TOWARD MY HOUSING FEES?

No. It stays on account like a security deposit. When you leave campus housing, you can apply for a refund of the deposit.

WHAT IF I PAY MY DEPOSIT, BUT I DON'T END UP NEEDING MY RESERVED SPACE; CAN I GET MY DEPOSIT BACK?

Yes, provided the Housing Office receives written cancellation notice by the deadline (July 1 for fall; Dec 1 for Spring)

HOW DO I PAY FOR MY HOUSING?

Housing fees are added to your student account at the beginning of the semester. Students have the option to pay up front for the entire semester, or pay monthly installments through the deferred payment plan.

ARE PRIVATE ROOMS AVAILABLE?

Generally private rooms are not available in the residence hall. It usually fills up, and any private rooms that may be available go to returning students. The new University Commons Apartments feature all private bedrooms.

HOW ARE ROOMMATES SELECTED?

Students can write in a same gender roommate choice on their housing application. In this case, both students would need to choose each other. If no roommate is selected, the housing office will assign a roommate based on mutual preferences from the housing application, such as floor choice. Generally, students from the same hometown are not placed together unless they choose each other. Race, religion or national origin are not considered when placing roommates.

ARE MEALS INCLUDED IN THE COST OF THE ROOM?

No. The Housing fee is for room only. There is a kitchenette with a microwave in each suite to allow for some meals to be prepared in the room. However, the UALR dining services operate a full service dining facility in the Donaghey Student Center. A debit card plan is available for student convenience.

WHERE DO I PARK?

Students are allowed to park their own vehicle in the gated lot at the hall for no additional cost. Designated resident parking is located all around the housing complex. A blue permit is required and is issued at chaeck-in.

IS CAMPUS HOUSING CLOSED DURING UNIVERSITY BREAK TIMES?

University Commons and University Court apartments remain open. The residence hall fee however does not cover break periods. students in the residence hall wishing to stay during Thanksgiving, Winter or Spring BReak may do so for an additional fee.
